External featured image is not regular function of woocommerce, however some plugins can add this. Unfortunately, some plugin’s authors add this function as woocommerce hook instead of WordPress regular hooks, so, it will not work properly in themes and other plugins.
Anyway, for theme, we added special child theme, just install it and this will fix problem with incompatibility
